Beach and Boardwalk - Our Trip to NJ

For the second half of our stay in PA we went to NJ to visit my great grandmother and to enjoy some beach and boardwalk time. Our trip started out rocky as we went to the beach and got caught in a thunderstorm. Is was sort of funny because the life quard warned us that a storm is coming, but you know my kids - they were getting wet regardless. It started to pour and I am standing in the pouring rain as they are riding the waves regardless of the black skies. Finally I said enough is enough - not really sure why since by then I was already soaked. The sun came did come out for the remainder of our time and we stayed at the boardwalk until 10:30 each night.

If you have never experienced the Ocean City Boardwalk, you need to: mobs of people, miles of food, lots of rides and hundreds of shops. Nanny Adams braved a few rides and was done in by the ride later on in the pictures that spins in the air and swings like a pendulum. I was quite proud of her for riding the ride with Conor. There was no way that I was getting on that thing!!!!! The roller coasters and log flume were the kids favorite rides. All in all we had a wonderful trip. We came home to PA very sunburned and very exhausted.

Our Trip to PA

Well, we have arrived in PA. After a very long year of not seeing family, the kids and I were so excited to arrive in PA. The first week is just about over. Some of the highlights of the week are the following: playing in the pool, boating with Uncle Dave, baking with Great Nana, playing with Gibbs (the dog), eating Chick-Fil-A and philly soft pretzels, going to Cracker Barrel and Red Lobster, a trip to the bank (!!!),and playing Monopoly Deal well into the night. Seeing family only once a year is extremely hard; however, we feel so blessed to have such wonderful memories to take back with us to Canada.

The Elves and the Shoemaker

The show was finally here! After a crazy month with lots of practices, Mackensey's Musical Theater performance was a success. Unfortunately the play did not call for a lot of roles, so Mackensey played one of the elves that works on shoes while the shoemaker sleeps. I think that I will have "March, march, march - here comes the Elf brigade..." in my head for weeks to come. They performed the play for two nights.

Double Digits Baby!

I can't believe that Mackensey is ten! Shane keeps telling her that she is seven. Mackensey's exact words, "Double Digits, Baby!" This was also her first girl/boy party ( She has been to many, but we have always had just girl parties). Shane asked me when did we discuss this and I told him that he better be ready, because she is just like me, and I would rather play with the boys when I was her age - well, and older!

Her party was a swim party so we went with a Hawaiian theme. My friend made the cake, and Mackensey wanted the umbrellas in the drinks! Because it was spring break, we did not have near the turn out on guests, but the kids still had a blast. We have followed the swim party with Shane grilling his MackDaddy burgers and a sleepover (Girls ONLY!!!).

Cowichan Aquatic Center (0ne half of it - much bigger). Wave pool, fountains, lazy river, olympic size pool, indoor slide, hot tub, sauna, etc.
Off the high dive

Shane laughed at this picture and called her a Diva!
The umbrella drinks - Cheers!
Hoping to not set off the smoke alarm
